AG glass, also known as anti-glare glass, is a type of glass that is non-reflective by changing the reflection of the glass through the formation of fine concave and convex particles on the surface of the glass. What could be the cause? As we all know, to ensure the consistent anti-glare effect of AG glass, the gloss tolerance must be tightly managed. Industry standards dictate a tolerance of ±10 for a single mother glass sheet. However, in our production management of glass cover plates, we aim for a stricter control of ±5. There may have many methods to distinguish the anti-glare side of AG glass, but here, we will introduce two simple but effective and fast methods to quickly identify the anti-glare side of AG glass.
- Method 1: Gently slide your hand back and forth across the glass. If it doesn't glide smoothly, feels tacky, and easily retains fingerprints, then it's the original glass surface. If the sliding feels more seamless, it's the AG side. This is because the AG side of anti-glare glass has been etched, with an etching depth of 0.06~0.08mm, giving it a paper-like touch.
- Method 2: Observe the surface reflections. If the reflection appears blurry or unclear, it indicates the AG side. This is due to the acid etching process that transforms the mirror-like original surface into an uneven one, causing the reflection to shift from specular to diffuse.
